Overview of Horizontal Packing Machine (Pillow Packing Machine)
The Horizontal Packing Machine (also called Horizontal Flow Wrapping Machine) is a high-speed automated packaging device designed to form tight, “pillow-shaped ” sealed packages from a continuous film roll.
Unlike vertical packaging machines, it wraps film horizontally around products—delivering a sleek, “second-skin”finish that boosts shelf appeal and protects items from contamination. As a specialized packaging machine manufacturer, our horizontal flow wrappers are optimized for both food (candy bars, granola bars) and non-food products ( hardware small parts, furniture fittings, electronic components).
How a Horizontal Flow Wrapping Machine Works?
The machine operates in 4 sequential, automated steps (tailored for both small hardware and food products):
Step 1: Film Feeding & Tube Formation: A roll of packaging film is mounted and fed through guiding rollers. A “forming box”gently shapes the film into a horizontal tube—with adjustable width to fit different kinds of food or non food products.
Step 2: Product Loading: Products are fed into the tube via an infeed conveyor by manual or automatically such as vibratory bowl
Step 3: Longitudinal & Transverse Sealing
- Longitudinal Sealing: A heated belt/roller creates a continuous seal along the tube’s back (securing the film around products—critical for preventing hardware parts from puncturing the package).
- Transverse Sealing: Dual heated jaws (or rotary sealers) close simultaneously to seal the package’s ends; this step also forms the next package‘s starting seal to maximize speed.
Step 4: Cutting & Discharge: A precision cutting mechanism separates finished pillow packages between the transverse seals. Packages exit via a takeaway conveyor—ready to be sent to our end of line packing equipment
