Furniture Industry Packaging Challenges (For Fasteners Manufacturers)
A leading furniture fastener manufacturer faced critical packaging hurdles while serving its diverse customer base—highlighting common pain points in the furniture sector’s packaging workflows.
The Pain Points of Dual Production Lines
Originally, the client relied on two separate production lines:
- One line packaged complex furniture accessories (e.g., small fasteners) into bags.
- The other filled these bags into boxes.
This setup struggled with:
- Excessive costs and space consumption for dual dedicated lines.
- Inefficiency when switching between bag/box packaging formats for mixed product assortments.
Unified Packaging Solution: Merging Two Lines Into One
To solve this, NewPackingMachine developed an integrated system that consolidates two lines into a single, adaptable workflow—built around our core packaging equipment:
- 24 Vibratory Bowls Counting Module: Handles the variety of furniture components (small screws, nuts, bolts) with precise, simultaneous counting.
- Vertical Form-Fill-Seal (VFFS) Machine : Serves as the core for sachet/bag packaging of counted accessories.
- One-Key Format Switch: A simple setting redirects output from the VFFS machine to a box-filling module (no manual line reconfiguration).
- Check Weigher : Inspects filled to ensure weight accuracy and product quality.
How the Unified Line Works
- Sachet Packaging Mode: 24 vibratory bowls count mixed furniture accessories, which are fed into the VFFS machine to form sealed retail sachets.
- Box Packaging Mode: A one-key switch diverts counted components to the box-filling module—boxes are auto-arranged, filled, and verified by the check weigher
Outcome: Cost & Space Optimization for High-Volume Production
For the furniture fastener client (with high annual production volume):
- Cost Reduction: Avoided the prohibitive expense of maintaining two dedicated lines, cutting packaging equipment costs by 40%.
- Space Savings: Reduced the packaging area footprint by 50% (critical for factory floor efficiency).
- No Downtime: Format swaps between sachet and box packaging take <1 minute, maintaining high throughput for mixed accessory orders.
Versatile Applications: Beyond Furniture Sector
This unified system isn’t limited to furniture components—it adapts to multiple industries facing dual bag/box packaging needs:
- Hardware Parts: Small screws, nuts (linked to our automatic screw packing machine).
- Door & Window Accessories: Hinges, locks (linked to our furniture accessories packing machine).
- Electrical Parts & Bathroom Fixtures: Micro-connectors, faucet fittings.
